Reporting to parents
March/September - Parent/teacher interviews will be held for any parents wishing to discuss their children. These interviews are held too early in the school year to discuss ‘progress’, but will allow for you as parents/caregivers to talk to teachers about areas of concern if you have them.
Termly - Individual student portfolios will be sent home to parents. These will show either samples of children’s work in particular curriculum areas, or an annotated note.
In either case, both will state: • the date • the curriculum area • the level your child is working at for that curriculum • the achievement objective • the specific learning outcome (what we wanted your child to achieve) • an assessment/evaluation (either done by the child, the teacher or both)
The portfolios are designed to show progress during the time your child/ren are at Isla Bank School as each learning outcome builds on to the next.
The portfolios (contained in a large scrap book) become legal documents and must be safely returned to school after viewing. When your child leaves Isla Bank at the end of Year 8 the portfolios become your property and will be sent home.
